We chose the name Fylleangst for our aquavit as a playful nod to Scandinavian drinking culture. A word with no true english interpretation, Fylleangst refers to the feeling of concern brought about by reflecting on one’s behavior after a night of heavy drinking. Distilled from a base of wheat and malted rice, we spent the better part of a year developing what we consider to be a uniquely west coast interpretation of this classic Scandinavian staple. Aquavit is our favorite savory spirit. Fylleangst is vapor distilled with toasted caraway, coriander, cumin, anise, fenugreek, summer savory, and lemongrass (to name a few). Like all of our spirits it is carefully made to stand out when enjoyed neat while also carrying enough flavor with it to be mixed in cocktails. As a real Scandinavian might exclaim, our Aquavit may be the finest. And in fact, judges at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition recognized Fylleangst as Best in Class with a Double Gold medal in both 2020 and 2021.

Dirty Thief

  • 2 oz Fylleangst Aquavit
  • 0.5 oz Fino sherry
  • 0.5 oz Dry vermouth (Dolin)
  • 0.5 oz Caper brine

~Stir all ingredients and strain into chilled coupe glass. Garnish with lemon twist and caper berry.

No Big Dill

  • 1.5 oz Fylleangst Aquavit
  • 0.75 oz Lemon juice
  • 0.5 oz Simple syrup
  • 2 oz Cucumber juice
  • 4 drops Saline solution
  • 1.5 oz Seltzer water
  • Sprig of dill

~Shake aquavit, lemon juice, simple syrup, cucumber juice, and saline solution together. Strain into Collins glass over ice. Top with seltzer and garnish with sprig of dill.

  • 0.75 oz. Chauffe Couer Calvados
  • 0.75 oz. Rittenhouse Rye
  • 0.5 oz. Koval Barrel Gin
  • 0.125 oz Fylleangst Aquavit
  • 0.125 Clear Creek Apple Brandy
  • 0.25 oz Apple Syrup
  • 0.125 oz Sherry Fernet Syrup

~Shake all ingredients over ice and strain into a coupe.

Midsommar

A play on the Chartreuse Swizzle
  • 1.25 oz Fylleangst Aquavit
  • 0.66 oz Velvet Falernum
  • 1 oz Pineapple Juice
  • 0.75 oz Lime Juice

~Shake with ice and strain into a Collins or Tiki glass with crushed ice.
